Ilfracombe and District Tourism Association has members from various tourism businesses like accommodation providers from large hotels to small B&Bs and self catering establishments, Restaurants and Cafes and Tourist Attractions to small local businesses, shops and individuals who are passionate about tourism in our area.
As a member you would receive regular emails of events with posters, information and quarterly e-newsletters. We offer regular 'Gather & Chats' throughout the low season, which are an ideal opportunity to meet other members. They are great fun with social events like race nights, 10 pin bowling, beetle drives plus we have informative events with maybe a lunch and guest speaker and workshops. We hold an annual Christmas 'Do' plus we also have an Attractions tour each year where we visit several attractions throughout North Devon to enable you to experience them first hand and in turn be able to recommend to your guests and customers. We have been as far afield as Clovelly and Hartland to the West and to Dunster Castle and Exmoor in the East and visited all the big family attractions along the way.
Membership fees help towards the regular annual donations that we make to various bodies including Ilfracombe in Bloom, Victorian Week, the Bands in the bandstand plus we include a Tourism Project Fund (£5 of your membership fee) that goes towards specific tourism projects like the Interpretation boards which are along the Coast Path from Hele Bay right across to Lee, the Fish Trail Interpretation boards around the harbour, the Ilfracombe Lights Appeal, the online booking on the website and we have also recently sponsored a gazebo for Events4Ilfracombe with IDTA logo which will promote us at all major events in Ilfracombe.
On top of this we have representatives on the TIC Board of Directors, the Harbour Board and the Ilfracombe Marketing Group, and Events4Ilfracombe which have instigated and organised various events like the North Devon Street Food Festival, All Things Morris and the Ilfracombe Bike Show they also resurrected Rescue Day and the Carnival when the previous organisers felt they could no longer continue to be involved. Plus we also actively help promote and support other major events throughout the year.
So you can see that, if you join the IDTA your membership fee really does benefit tourism in the town and ultimately your customers and guests.
The membership fee is just £35 per annum, with £5 of this going to our special project fund.
If you are interested in finding out more please contact us via the Tourist Information Centre and one of our committee will give you a call.
