The independently owned Carlton Hotel, is open all year round. It´s located on the level close to the town´s harbour, seafront and convenient to the high street. With its own car park and easy access to the many North Devon visitor attractions, this hotel is a great base to explore, play and work from. The hotel is staffed 24 hours each day. A professional and friendly team are delighted to look after you.

All 45 guest bedrooms are en suite and benefit from flat screen TV, beverage tray, hairdryer, phone, superfast broadband and WiFi.
2017 sees the launch of our brand new deluxe bedrooms to 4* standard. Each offers new windows with secondary glazing, individually designed interiors with blackout curtains, new beds, throws and luxury linen With fully fitted wardrobes and integral safe, personal bar, iron and ironing board.

Improvement to the public and lounge areas, have created new meeting and event rooms, residents lounge and library, together with a coffee offer, gym and spaces to relax in.

The kitchen never closes at the Carlton. With our classic cooked breakfasts, through home baked cakes with delicious coffee´s, to our extensive lunch and great value dinner menus. We promote local food producers and suppliers. Our wine and bar list is very reasonably priced.

Driving directions

From the Tourist Information Centre at Landmark return to Wilder Road, turn right, at the set of traffic lights turn right into Runnacleave Rd, just past the Bath House is the Carlton Hotel. If coming in from the A361, turn left towards the seafront. At the next set of traffic lights turn left into Runnacleave Rd, just past the Bath House is the Carlton Hotel

We are just a five-minute walk from the TIC at the Landmark.

Bus service 21/21A from Barnstaple (including the railway station) operates every 20 minutes.

Nearest stations are Barnstaple (services connect at Exeter) or Tiverton Parkway (fast train journey to Bristol, London and cross Country).

National Express coach service drops off o/s the hotel on Wilder Road.
