Raising much-needed funds for North Devon Hospice.
This event has quickly gained a reputation as one of the toughest, yet most beautiful races you could wish to enter. As the name suggests, the North Devon AONB Marathon and Half Marathon goes through the stunning scenery of our local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From rugged cliff edges, sand dunes, costal paths, beaches, country trails and open fields, this race has it all. A true test of a runner's mettle in one of the most beautiful corners of the country. The whole event raises much-needed funds for North Devon Hospice, and every pound will help the charity care for local people affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
The event centres around the incredible Woolacombe beach, with runners taking a figure-of-eight route around the surrounding headlands and countryside. Those brave enough will carry on to complete the 26-mile route, while many will be content with the enormous accomplishment that is completing the 13-mile half marathon.
Since the event began just 5 years ago, it has sold out every single year, months in advance. Runners from across the country and abroad have flocked to North Devon to take on the gruelling slopes and stunning vistas that this unique race offers.
Anyone interested in taking part should sign up now. The North Devon Marathon is a great day out for all the family, where those not running can enjoy the 3-miles of golden sand at Woolacombe beach.
